The differences between a branch and a liaison office.

When a foreign company places its business basis in Japan there are 2 options; an office (a branch) or a liaison office. Office and branch are practically the same. They are both allowed to capitalize the profits independently. It is required to apply for a registration when placing an office.

In contrast it is up to the company whether it applies for a registration for a liaison office but the activity allowed in the office is limited to the liaison work. It is not allowed to capitalize the profits independently.

Moreover the common point between an office and a liaison office is that they both have to disclose the settlement of account when placed in Japan. Although the disclosure through Internet has become possible lately it is not yet? convenient because the audit contract with a particular company has to be signed. It is advised to make a choice according to the purpose of activities in Japan.

Establishment of a branch in Japan
(a maker of electronic parts・China)

Our company has achieved first place in a market share with particular electronic parts. We were looking for a specialist office which can accomplish the requested work without mistake when we expand our business to Japan. The expansion was unmistakable due to the relation with the trading companies. It was ACROSEED introduced by a Japanese public organization.

In fact the staff in charge took care of everything on the establishment. We just followed the instructions given. After the establishment we left all works: visa applications for the director and employees; insurance joining procedures; labour management. It has been 5 years already, but we still have a good relation with ACROSEED.
