Change from Student Visa to Spouse of Japanese National Visa

Approval for Change from Student Visa to Spouse of Japanese National Visa

Mr./Ms. S (United States)
Request: Application for permission to change status from a Student Visa to a Spouse of Japanese National Visa

Thank you so much for everything.
Hearing that the permission was granted, I feel truly relieved from the bottom of my heart.

At one point, I was worried that obtaining the visa might be difficult, but thanks to the thorough support from Mr. Miyagawa at ACROSEED Immigration Lawyer's Office, I was able to leave everything in your hands with peace of mind.

If I hadn’t asked Mr. Miyagawa at that time, perhaps the visa still wouldn’t have been approved even now. I’m deeply grateful beyond words.

In the future, when I renew my visa or apply for permanent residency, I would definitely like to ask for your help again. Thank you very much.

Thank you so much!
Acroseed made the visa process so simple and painless. Mr. Miyagawa was very kind and helpful throughout the entire process. I’m very satisfied with the service and would highly recommend them to anyone.

[Comment from the person in charge]

This case involved a client who had been staying in Japan on a student visa after withdrawing from school and then married a Japanese spouse. We carefully explained and supplemented the reasons for withdrawal, the client’s residence status, and their ability to cover living expenses, and obtained approval in one attempt to change to a Spouse of Japanese National visa.

A student visa is a status of residence based on the premise of “attending school,” and in principle, prompt departure from Japan is required after withdrawal. Depending on the circumstances, there is also a possibility of becoming subject to revocation of status of residence, so careful handling is required even if marriage is planned.

Who This Case May Help

Spouse visa applications that involve marriage while staying on a student visa, or a residence situation after withdrawing from school, tend to be reviewed particularly carefully by immigration authorities. This case shows that even when there are concerns about one’s residence situation, approval can be achieved through proper explanation and preparation. It may be especially helpful for people such as the following.

  • Those who married a Japanese national while staying on a student visa and are considering changing to a spouse visa
  • Those who feel anxious about their status of residence after withdrawing, being expelled, or taking a leave of absence from school
  • Those unsure how to explain the reason for withdrawal and their living expense support situation
  • Those worried their residence situation may be judged as “not favorable”
  • Those who want to aim for a reliable, one-time approval for a spouse visa change
  • Those who want to consult with a professional with a long-term view toward renewal and permanent residence in the future
