Case Overview | With a Vocational Diploma (Senmonshi; vocational school graduate), We Supported the 3rd Application After Two Refusals and Obtained a Work Visa

In this case, an Australian client aiming to obtain a work visa with a Vocational Diploma (Senmonshi; vocational school graduate) filed the application on their own and received two refusals. With a departure deadline approaching and a countdown underway, our office supported the third application, and the client successfully obtained work visa approval. For Senmonshi applicants, it is crucial to organize and present the relevance between the job duties and the coursework/skills acquired at vocational school in a way that immigration can understand without misunderstanding, and to clearly demonstrate the accurate scope of work that the applicant can perform.

  • Nationality: Australia
  • Request: Work visa approval with a Vocational Diploma (Senmonshi) (Support for the 3rd application)
  • Background: Two refusals from self-filing → Re-application under an approaching deadline
  • Our support: Organizing and proving the relevance between job duties and coursework / Redesigning the filing strategy
  • Result: Work visa approved (We also received feedback that both the company and the client were very pleased)

Client’s Story | “I’m truly glad I was able to obtain the work visa safely.”

This is the testimonial from a client who requested support to obtain a work visa with a Vocational Diploma (Senmonshi).

Mr./Ms. D (Australia)
Request: Work visa approval with a Vocational Diploma (Senmonshi)

I’m truly glad that I was able to obtain the work visa safely. Even I was surprised. The president and the staff at the company are also very happy.

To everyone at ACROSEED Immigration Lawyer's Office, including Mr. Miyagawa and Mr. Endo, I am truly, truly grateful from the bottom of my heart.

I would like to ask for your help again for my visa renewal next year.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!

[Comment from the Person in Charge]

It is sometimes said that Senmonshi (vocational diplomas) are “difficult for obtaining visas precisely because of their specialization.” This is because, compared to university graduates, immigration tends to scrutinize more strictly the relevance between job duties and what was learned at vocational school, and proving that relevance is not easy for non-professionals.

In this case as well, the client filed on their own and was refused twice. After that, the client visited ACROSEED Immigration Lawyer's Office together with the company’s representative. The client had already been instructed to prepare for departure, and with the countdown to the required departure date approaching, ACROSEED supported the third application. It seems the client was prepared to “give up if it didn’t work even with ACROSEED.”

In fact, for Senmonshi applicants, there are very many cases that are refused on the grounds that “the relevance between the job duties and the content learned at vocational school cannot be recognized.”

A major reason is that applicants do not realize that the scope of work that can be approved is limited, and they end up applying with job duties that exceed that scope.

In a sense, it can be said that the scope of “work you can do” is narrower than for university graduates. In other words, there are “tasks you cannot do,” and this can sometimes lead to fatal mistakes in an application, so caution is necessary.

Work Visa Approval Cases & Track Record Summary

Who This Case May Help

When aiming for a work visa with a Vocational Diploma (Senmonshi; vocational school graduate), the point that often becomes the focus of screening is the relevance between the “job duties” and the “coursework/skills acquired at vocational school.” Especially in cases with repeated refusals, or where the residence/departure deadline is approaching, revising the filing strategy and redesigning the explanations and supporting documents can determine the outcome.

  • Those aiming to obtain a work visa with a Vocational Diploma (Senmonshi; vocational school graduate)
  • Those who are concerned about explaining the relevance between job duties and coursework
  • Those who filed on their own and were refused (not granted) and need to re-apply
  • Those with an approaching residence/departure deadline who want to rebuild their filing strategy in a short time
  • Those who want support in coordination with the company, from organizing employment and job duties onward
